Ruby & Ben
Ruby & Bens Beautiful Ballarat Wedding at Moorabool Reservoir & Dean Hall
Some weddings days just have a little extra magic about them and Ruby and Ben’s celebration was one of those days from beginning to end. Set against the beautiful countryside just outside Ballarat, their wedding was full of emotion, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
Getting Ready at a Quaint Cottage
Ruby and Ben both got ready at the same charming cottage just outside of Ballarat, with the girls upstairs and the boys downstairs enjoying a few jars of courage before heading off to the ceremony.
Once the boys had left, the house became a calm and excited space as Ruby and her bridal party prepared for the day ahead. One of my favourite moments from the morning was when Ruby stepped out looking absolutely stunning so her brothers could have a sneak peek before the ceremony. Their reaction said it all.
A Heartfelt Ceremony at Moorabool Reservoir
The ceremony took place under the gazebo at beautiful Moorabool Reservoir. It was my first time photographing a wedding there and I instantly loved the location. Surrounded by nature and peaceful water views, it created the perfect setting for an intimate ceremony with close family and friends.
Pam Anderson delivered a heartfelt ceremony, and I was able to move around the gazebo to capture different angles without interrupting the moment- something every photographer appreciates.
Adventure, Sunlight & Rocky the Cat
After the ceremony, we found a gorgeous wooded area behind a fence. Without hesitation, Ruby laughed and said, “Lets just jump it.” Next thing a knew, I was photographing the bride and groom climbing a fence in full wedding attire. Definitely one of the classic moments of the day.
The soft sunlight filtering through the huge trees was stunning, and it felt especially fitting location considering Ben is a arborist.
Just before leaving for the reception, the bridesmaids arrived with Ruby’s old friend Rocky the cats we made sure to capture a few sweet photos of them together on the grass.
Celebrating at Historic Dean Hall
The reception was held at the historic Dean Hall, where a larger group of family and friends gathered to celebrate the newlyweds. The atmosphere was warm, joyful, and full of love.
One moment that will stay with me was capturing Ruby’s reflection in a framed photo of her late mother. When I showed her the image, she became emotional and thanked me, it was one of those reminders of how powerful photography can be.
Ending the Day with Sunset Session
To finish the day, we stepped into the open field beside the hall for sunset portraits. The sky turned on an incredible display, and Ruby and Ben made it easy to capture the connection they share.
It was the perfect ending to a beautiful wedding day.
